The city of Mobile, AL has tons of great restaurants and something for every appetite. And when the kids are getting restless and saying they’re hungry, the following family restaurants are some of our favorite places to dine, whether it’s for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
1. Bob’s Downtown Diner
Step into this old-fashioned diner, and you’ll be greeted immediately by a friendly staff member. They serve traditional American eats for breakfast and lunch, and they make their food from scratch on a daily basis. For breakfast, they serve more than two dozen dishes, each of which come with grits, biscuit, or toast. For lunch, check out their specials, like the fresh chicken livers over rice, the grilled fish tacos, or the grilled pork chop. Find Bob’s Downtown Restaurant at 263 St Francis St.
2. Butch Cassidy’s Café
Visit Butch Cassidy’s Café as soon as you can! Grab a juicy burger or seafood plate for lunch or dinner here at 60 N Florida St. We suggest the Butch Burger, the Jessie James Burger, or the shrimp, fish, and stuffed crab fries. They also have a good fried green tomato BLT. For the kids, order a grilled cheese, a hamburger, the chicken tenders, or the mac and cheese. And be sure to ask about their daily specials, which run Monday through Friday, for just $10. For dessert, you can’t beat the key lime pie.
3. Dew Drop Inn
This unassuming restaurant serves burgers, hot dogs, seafood, chicken, and more in a no-frills dining area. Try one of the many sandwiches, such as the fresh crab meat, the fried shrimp, or the roasted turkey, all of which come with fries. For dinner, try the vegetable plate or the fried pork chop, which comes with two sides. The kid’s menu includes a corn dog, cheeseburger, shrimp, oysters, grilled cheese, or chicken tenders. They are located at 1808 Old Shell Rd.
4. Roosters
Rooster is a good place to stop in for a quick meal. They serve tacos, burritos, sandwiches, and more. We suggest the grilled gulf shrimp or the grilled mahi mahi tacos, the Caribbean jerk chicken, the paleo with your choice of meat, the island barbecue sandwich, or the boss hog burrito. They also have tacos, burritos, and quesadillas for the little ones. For dessert, enjoy a Rooster’s sundae or a root beer float. You’ll find Rooster’s at 211 Dauphin St.
